Whitney D. McGowan is a marketing executive with over a decade of experience driving growth and engagement within the entertainment industry. Currently serving as Director of Social Media & Partnerships at Disney’s Onyx Collective, she leads innovative strategies that amplify BIPOC storytellers and has overseen campaigns generating over $54M in earned media.

Previously, Whitney held key roles at HBO Max and Netflix, where she specialized in editorial strategy, brand leadership, and global creative marketing. Her leadership has fueled triple-digit growth across platforms, elevated community engagement, and produced large-scale campaigns reaching hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide.

A graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in News-Editorial Journalism, Whitney also studied Producing for TV and New Media at NYU. Beyond her corporate work, she co-founded Sangha Social Club, a community-driven initiative dedicated to creating spaces for connection among creative women and BIPOC entrepreneurs.

Guided by empathy, creativity, and strategic vision, Whitney is passionate about storytelling that inspires impact and representation across entertainment media.

In her free time, Whitney works on her green thumb, cooks recipes found on Instagram, reads literary fiction, writes personal essays, hikes in beautiful LA and watches way too much TV.
